1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using Paw-San ("the App"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of service
Paw-San is a Japanese vocabulary learning app that provides translation, vocabulary saving, pronunciation playback, voice input, and conversational practice features. The App is available on iOS devices.
3. User accounts
The App does not require you to create an account. Your identity is managed anonymously through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat for subscription purposes. You are not required to provide your name, email address, or any other personal information to use the App.
4. Free and Pro tiers
The App offers a free tier with limited daily usage and a Pro tier with expanded limits. The free tier includes:
- Limited AI translations per day
- On-device translation (unlimited)
- Vocabulary saving and review
- System voice playback
The Pro tier adds:
- 1,000 AI translations per month
- Unlimited practice conversations
- Premium ElevenLabs voice playback
- Premium voice input transcription
5. Subscriptions and billing
Pro subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's terms of service for in-app purchases.
- Monthly: $2.99 per month, billed monthly.
- Yearly: $19.90 per year, billed annually.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
Prices may change. If they do, you will be notified before your next renewal and given the option to cancel.
6. Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted through Apple's support channels. We do not process refunds directly.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App for its intended purpose: learning and practicing Japanese. You may not:
- Use the App to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content through its AI features.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or exploit the service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
- Use automated systems to access the App's backend services.
8. AI-generated content
The App uses artificial intelligence (OpenAI, Google Gemini) to provide translations, example sentences, and practice conversations. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies. The App is a learning aid, not a certified translation service. Do not rely on it for professional, legal, or medical translations.
9. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, mascot, code, and content, is the intellectual property of its developer. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
10. Data and privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how we handle it.
11. Service availability
We strive to keep the App and its backend services available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. AI translation, voice, and chat features depend on third-party services (OpenAI, Google, ElevenLabs, Cloudflare) and may experience downtime outside our control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App at any time.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that translations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated translations.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last updated.
